AngloGold halts ops at Moab Khotsong mine after accident
MOSCOW, Mar 16 (PRIME-TASS) -- South African gold producer AngloGold Ashanti said Tuesday that an employee was killed at the company’s Moab Khotsong mine in the Vaal River area of South Africa.
He was fatally injured when two trains collided during shunting operations underground, the company stated.
It is not clear when operations at the mine will be resumed.
Last year, five miners were deadly injured at the mine.
South African gold mines often suffer accidents, blamed on poor safety standards.
